With the recent passing or should I say HOMECOMING of such an iconic man of God, Billy Graham… it made me think of what a great legacy he left and what he was known for.
He was a man that preached the simple message of the Gospel to over millions of people regardless of age, religion, creed, race…
He was a man that could be one day sitting next to and counseling Presidents and the next could be carrying on a conversation with a child and each were just as important to him.
He was a man that taught on 2nd chances…when a person falls or slips to return back to Christ. He told about the God of 2nd chances.
He would simply Preach the Gospel, and invite people, and the rest He would leave up to the Lord.
He preached with humility and genuineness and touched people where they lived, no matter where they came from.
He was an author, led many non-profits such as Samaritan’s Purse. Had a weekly newspaper column, Radio host, and even had a hand in the production of hundreds of movies.
“A Christian is more than a person who is living up to a system of ethics. A Christian is more than a person living a good moral life. A Christian is a person in whom Christ dwells.” Billy Graham, 1958, Charlotte
When you heard the name Billy Graham everyone seemed to know right away who and what He represented.
Personal Impact
To me, He lived and breathed the Word . Christ was His World and sharing the Lord and His love and grace to everyone He came in contact with.
Made me inspect myself
The other day I was thinking….?????? What is my legacy or how will I be known to others? When they hear my name, will they laugh and be joyful, or have a grudging, sad look?
Does my life represent Christ? Is my life bringing people closer to the Lord or driving people away from the Lord?
Now we are all human and will never ever be perfect. Only Jesus is…
We are the Main Character in our own Story
The life we live is writing a story or as some say we are writing our own obituary???
I pray I always show love, mercy and grace….Just as the One whom I love and gave my heart and life to has shown me forgiveness, grace and mercy despite all my mistakes and sin.
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
What is your biography about? Will it be a best seller?
So I encourage you today…. Is your story going to be a best seller?? Is it one that will leave an impact, one that will impact others for the good?
I have to ask forgiveness daily, as I know I fall so short all the time..but I know I can run to the One who is Perfect and the One who I can only live my life by His example.
If you have never known this man, Jesus. Not just know about Him, but made Him Your Saviour and Have a real, personal one on one relationship with…
You and Him together can write or re-write your story.. I will leave this simple prayer with you.
In His Love,
