When I had looked up what the word “imprisoned “means, here are some of the meanings:
apprehend, detain, hold, incarcerate, lock up, cage, constrain, keep limit, restrain, bottle up, fence in, hold captive, hold hostage, hold in custody, keep captive, lock in, put behind bars, shut in, take prisoner
You may or may not have been incarcerated by the system, but you still can be a prisoner in your own life.
We can be imprisoned by our past, feelings of shame, guilt, food, addictions, our emotions, our thoughts or mind, fears, anxieties, our flesh, even our own home, or anything that we feel no control over or overtaken and captive to.
So many of the prisons we create start in our mind. That is the number one battleground that Satan can and will use if we allow him to. We tend to believe everything that our mind tells us via thoughts and most often we act and live our lives according to our belief in these thoughts.
The mind is also a generator of, worries, anxieties, fears, jealousies, greed and anger. These thoughts and emotions imprison us and often leave us powerless.
There are many things that the Lord says about it , even ways he used prison to be glorified and perform mighty miracles!!!
Isaiah 61:1 – The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;
Hebrews 13:3
Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
Genesis 39:20-23
And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it. The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.
Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,
Acts 12:3-19 And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread. And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. …
Praise is a very powerful tool in setting free those bondages in your life.
Myself personally when I feel the attack, prayer, praising and diving into His Word casts out that darkness trying to take hold. Romans 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
YOU CAN BE SET FREE FROM THAT PRISON THAT YOU FEEL AND FIND FREEDOM!!
My prayer is that you will run to the Lord not away from Him when facing these battles…I will leave this simple prayer and let me know so I can encourage you.
